ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chairman Khursheed Shah has chaired the National Assembly’s Special Committee session for consensus of all political parties on constitutional amendment.

Pakistan Peoples Party’s draft on constitutional amendment and suggestions of Bar Council on government constitutional amendment would be discussed in the session.

Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) would also present its draft on the constitutional amendment in the session.

Also PTI and JUI-F would give their suggestions on the PPP draft on amendment in today's session.

It is pertinent to note that the Parliamentary Special Committee’s session was also held yesterday and the PPP and government presented their draft but it remained unfruitful.

The deadlock among political parties remained intact despite Bilawal stressed for complete consensus of all political parties on constitutional amendment.

He added that the JUI-F has started deliberations on the draft provided by the government.

According to JUI-F chief, he had rejected the draft that was provided in the ‘black bag’ and people also supported his stance.

“JUI-F and PPP will now share the draft with the PTI to reach consensus,” he added. The veteran politician said that the judiciary shouldn’t be divided over the retirement issue of an individual.

“It took nine months to discuss the 18th amendment and therefore we want to thoroughly study the draft,” he said.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui on Friday said that the government was hopeful that a consensus will be reached soon on impending constitutional amendments.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that there were ongoing discussions and activities behind the scenes, and we are hopeful for breakthrough very soon.

He said that two drafts for constitutional amendments have been presented to the committee overseeing the process.
