LAHORE (Dunya News) – A Lahore court on Monday extended physical remand of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNA Mian Javed Latif for two more days in case pertaining to defaming institutions.

Duty Judicial Magistrate of Model Town Court heard the case against Javed Latif for delivering remarks against state institutions.

Police produced the PML-N leader before the court on completion of his previous four-day physical remand for hearing.

During the proceedings, the public prosecutor said that three tests including polygraph have been done and requested that his remand be extended for further investigation.

The PML-N MNA himself presented his arguments and said everyone would have been happy if he had remained silent at the country’s loss. He said his lawyers have withdrawn their credentials and the court can extend his remand them as much as it want.

After hearing the arguments, the court extended the physical remand for two more days.

In April, police took Javed Latif into custody after a sessions court dismissed his bail in a case pertaining to allegedly defaming state institutions.

Latif left the courtroom before the pronouncement of the verdict. The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) arrested him near Saggian Pul after the court dismissed his bail plea, according to his lawyer.

Previously, the Lahore High Court (LHC), while hearing Mian Javed Latif’s plea seeking dismissal of case, had stressed that no relief will be given to the person who speaks against Pakistan. Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan reprimanded Javed Latif and said in his remarks that the PML-N leader should leave Pakistan and take nationality of any other country. The parliamentarians should do self-accountability, he affirmed.
