LAHORE (Dunya News) - Classes have been suspended in 133 government schools in Lahore after their buildings were declared unsafe following a structural survey.

According to officials, the action was taken after a survey conducted by the Communication and Works (C&W) Department. The affected buildings have been cordoned off, and 133 structures have been vacated.

The CEO of the Education Authority Lahore stated that teaching activities have been halted in partially and completely dilapidated buildings. Dangerous blocks have been sealed, while the process of relocating students to safer facilities has begun.

Officials further said that construction of new toilet blocks is underway in 144 schools across the city, while boundary walls are being built in 34 schools to improve safety and infrastructure.

Areas where construction work is ongoing have been completely cordoned off. Authorities added that a teacher has been appointed as a focal person at each site to oversee safety measures, stressing that student safety remains the top priority.
