PTI, allied parties victorious in KP Assembly
25 candidates contested for 12 seats of the KP Assembly.
PESHAWAR (Dunya news) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Allied parties on Friday emerged victorious in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly as results of Senate elections came out unofficially. Members of the Assembly expressed their jubilation by chanting celebratory slogans.
PTI was successful in securing 5 seats of KP Assembly in the Senate elections. Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) won 2 while Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Awani National Party (ANP), Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI), Jamat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami Jamhoori Ittehad party (AJIP) were successful in winning single seats of the KP Assembly.
25 candidates contested for 12 seats of the KP Assembly. According to unofficial results, minority seat of the Assembly was secured by John Kenneth William of PTI with 62 votes. On the other hand, his opponent Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazal’s James Iqbal (JUI-F) managed 46 votes.
PTI’s Samina Abid won the women’s seat with 66 votes. The other seat was won by ANP’s Sitara Ayaz with 30 votes.
The Technocrat seat was secured by PTI’s Noman Wazir with 67 votes. The other Technocrat seat for the Assembly was won by PML-N’s Javed Abbasi in the 3rd category. PML-N’s candidate Salahuddin secured the general seat in the 3rd category as well. PTI’s Mohsin Aziz managed 18 votes and Shibli Faraz managed 17 votes to win the general seat of the Assembly.
AJIP’s Liaquat Tarkai managed 15, JUI-F’s Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman 16, and JI’s Siraj ul Haq managed 18 votes to secure their position as Senators.
