Islam, Sikhism teach tolerance: PM Pervez Ashraf
PM Raja Pervez Ashraf says all religions teach promoting humanity‚ tolerance and brotherhood.
LAHORE: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that the basic education of all the religions is tolerance‚ brotherhood and love for the humanity.
He was addressing an international seminar on "Aaj Sikh Qom Kahan Khari Hai" organized by Dayal Singh Research Cultural Forum Lahore‚ in connection with the Birthday celebrations of Sikh nation s spiritual leader Baba Guru Nanak.
The PM said said Baba Guru Nanak in his teaching preached love and human equality.
He said Muslim and Sikh nations share many cultural and traditional values and there is need to improve these relations further. He said the main important value that both nations share is oneness of God.
The PM greeted the whole Sikh community on the birthday anniversary celebrations of their spiritual leader‚ Baba Guru Nanak.
He said that Baba Guru Nanak was a great reformer‚ who was against the unethical and negative values in the society. He said that Hazrat Mohammad (SAW) preached the message of moderation and tolerance.
Raja Pervez Ashraf said that we should respect each other s beliefs and ideas‚ as the extremism is the enemy of the humanity. He said protection of believers of other religions is the basic teaching of Islam.
The PM said that a separate Ministry has been setup for people belonging to other religions. He said that the holy places of Sikh religions are also sacred for us and every possible measure is taken to provide maximum facilities to the Sikh Yatrees.
