UN session: Malala meets with world leaders, discusses education

(Web Desk ) - Malala Yousafzai, the 20-year-old Pakistani who has been labeled a global activist for female education and is the youngest-ever Nobel Prize laureate interacted with fellow Noble laureates, celebrities and world leaders from around the globe along the sidelines of the 72nd regular session of the UN General Assembly.



The session that started on September 12 will be held till September 29.



In this context, Malala met with global leaders including the Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Gabriela Michetti, Vice President of Argentina. Malala, who is also a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations, also tweeted about her engagements with decision makers and ambassadors.



The centerpiece of the gathering of world leaders is the “general debate,” the ten days from September 19 to September 29, when countries get to present their views to a whole session of the United Nations.



With hundreds of possible outcomes, other official meetings, side conferences and one-on-one meetings along the sidelines of the session, celebrities - drafted in as UN "goodwill ambassadors", too mingle with world leaders to lend their star power to issues concerning communities across the globe.
