LAHORE (Dunya News) - Citizens including police officers were being fined with e-challan through an artificial intelligence system for not wearing helmets in the provincial capital, Lahore.
An AI based system has been operationalised against motorcyclists without helmets.
The entrance of motorcycle riders without helmets in model roads and entry and exit routes of the city had been prohibited.
CTO Lahore Ammara Athar disclosed that 227, 761 challan tickets had been issued by the AI system for violation of the helmet traffic rule.
The action had been taken against violators with 300, 100 challans issued by manual method.
The entry in traffic offices without a helmet had also been banned.
Motorcycle parking is not allowed without a helmet. The helmet is necessary to acquire a new driving license.
Challan would be issued for hanging a helmet on an arm and placing it on the tank of a motorcycle.
There has been a drastic reduction in head injury cases with helmet enforcement campaigns.
The vision behind challan is to ensure safety and security of citizen’s life and property.
