ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has lauded King Charles III as a symbol of public service and global awareness while addressing a ceremony marking the British monarch’s birthday.
Speaking at the event, the prime minister said it was an honor to attend the celebration, noting that King Charles played a key role in uniting the Commonwealth nations.
Shehbaz Sharif praised British High Commissioner Jane Marriott for her efforts in helping restore Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights to the UK. He emphasized that terrorism remains a major threat to global peace but reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces and its people stand united against it.
The prime minister highlighted that around two million British Pakistanis are contributing prominently in various sectors in the United Kingdom. He also acknowledged British cooperation in completing landmark projects in education, health, and skill development.
On the occasion, Shehbaz Sharif extended an invitation to King Charles III and Queen Camilla to visit Pakistan.
In her address, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott expressed heartfelt condolences over recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan, reiterating that the United Kingdom stands firmly with the people of Pakistan. She added that 15 British parliamentarians of Pakistani origin are serving in the UK, reflecting the deep bilateral ties between both nations.
Jane Marriott further stated that King Charles’s environmental initiatives would bring Pakistan and the United Kingdom even closer together.
