Ghotki incident: Train operation restored from up track

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Train operation has been restored from the up track following completion of rescue operation at the site of Ghotki train accident.

According to the spokesperson of Ministry of Railways, Bahauddin Zakariya Express has been operated from the up track. Work on the down track is continuing and it will also soon be restored.

The first train Bahauddin Zakaria has left the station safely. Hundreds of passengers are on board Bahauddin Zakaria Express. Bahauddin Zakaria Express is traveling from Karachi to Multan. The rest of the trains are also being diverted to the destination.

Over 60 people were killed from collision between Millat Express and Sir Syed Express near Ghotki on Monday.

Minister for Railways Azam Swati directed the concerned authorities to complete initial inquiry report of the train accident within 24 hours. He also directed for the provision of best medical facilities to the injured.

Following the incident, several trains were stopped at various stations and train operations were suspended.
