Farmers to stage sit-in in front of Punjab Assembly today
Farmers are demanding the release of their pending amounts worth 30 billion from sugar mills owners.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - A Group of farmers belonging to Pakistan Kissan Ittehad has announced to stage sit-in front of the Punjab Assembly today (Tuesday) for acceptance of their demands.
The decision to stage a sit-in front of the Punjab Assembly was taken by Pakistan Kissan Ittehad leaders after their negotiations with top police officials failed on Monday.
Earlier, hundreds of farmers held a protest march toward the provincial metropolis from southern Punjab districts on late Monday demanding the release of their pending amounts worth 30 billion from sugar mills owners and subsidy on different agriculture items.
The farmers’ rally, however, was not allowed to enter the city as police placed containers at the Multan Road near Thokar Niaz Baig and blocked the road. The roadblocks caused a severe traffic jam in the city.
