An FIR filed on the complaint Walled City of Lahore Authority
LAHORE (Web Desk) - The Akbari Gate police have registered a case against model Azbia Khan and photographer Zain Shah for allegedly violating the sanctity of the historic Masjid Wazir Khan by recording a video on its premises without official permission.
The FIR was filed on the complaint of Mohammad Awais, an official from the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), after a video clip of the shoot surfaced on social media. The complaint alleges that the model was dressed inappropriately and that no prior approval had been sought for filming at the heritage site.
According to the WCLA official, the video was recorded approximately four days prior to being uploaded and quickly drew public criticism. He further stated that the clip not only disrespected the sanctity of the mosque but also harmed the reputation of the department responsible for preserving Lahore’s cultural landmarks.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred at Masjid Wazir Khan. In August 2020, actor Saba Qamar and singer Bilal Saeed were also booked after filming part of a music video at the mosque, which led to widespread backlash.
Following that controversy, the Punjab Auqaf and Religious Affairs Department imposed a ban on filming dramas and movies at mosques and shrines across the province.
The latest incident has once again sparked debate about the use of religious and heritage sites for commercial and entertainment purposes, with calls for stricter enforcement of existing regulations.
