Pakistan terms US-Russia contacts as positive development

Asim Iftikhar appreciated US President's role in resolving the conflict Russia-Ukraine conflict.
NEW YORK (Dunya News): Pakistan on Friday said that the high-level contacts between the United States and Russia are a welcome development.
Speaking at a United Nations Security Council meeting, Pakistan’s representative, Asim Iftikhar, said that there is hope for a positive outcome from Russia-Ukraine contacts and that efforts for peace in Ukraine should not come to a halt.
Asim Iftikhar also appreciated US President Trump's role in resolving the conflict and welcomed the exchange of prisoners between Ukraine and Russia.
He further stated that international laws are clear and must be adhered to. All members should respect the Vienna Convention. Pakistan supports a peaceful resolution of all conflicts between Russia and Ukraine and emphasized that valuable lives are being lost.
He added that the UN Security Council has taken positive steps this month, and Ukraine’s President joining today’s meeting is a welcome sign. Pakistan is concerned about the rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine, and unfortunately, this crisis has now entered its fourth year.
