Punjab Police's rescue and relief operations continue in flood-affected areas

Over 15,000 police officers and personnel are participating in the rescue and relief operations.
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Police's rescue and relief operations are ongoing in the flood-affected area as flooding in the Chenab, Sutlej, and Ravi rivers devastated hundreds of villages across Punjab, Dunya News reported on Friday.
According to a spokesperson for Punjab Police, over 15,000 police officers and personnel are participating in the rescue and relief operations. Brave female officers and staff of Punjab Police are also working side by side in the evacuation and aid of flood victims.
The police spokesperson stated that senior female officers and personnel are relocating flood victims, their belongings, and livestock to safe areas. So far, Punjab Police have moved more than 90,700 flood-affected individuals to safe areas.
The spokesperson added that police personnel have transported 38,130 men, 27,418 women, and 25,176 children to safe locations. Additionally, over 82,200 animals stranded in flood-hit areas have also been relocated to safety.
According to the Punjab Police, more than 5,000 people have been moved to safe locations in Lahore alone. Over 700 police vehicles and 40 boats are being used in the operation. The Inspector General (IG) of Punjab has ordered an acceleration of evacuation and relief efforts in flood-affected areas.
The IG Punjab has also instructed that people taking refuge in flood relief camps must be provided with full security, food, and essential supplies. He emphasized maintaining constant coordination with PDMA, district administration, rescue teams, and security agencies. He also ordered to increase police patrolling in villages and settlements along the riverbanks.
