Finally PTI gets permission for party rally in Lahore
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The district administration on Friday gave permission to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for a party rally in Lahore’s NA-123 constituency.
According to details, the district administration has allowed the PTI to move ahead with its rally on October 22 in Lahore’s Kahna area.
Earlier, a PTI request for a party gathering at Liberty Roundabout had been denied by the district coordination officer (DCO).
On Monday, the PTI through its lawyer Shoaib Shaheen questioned the neutrality of the caretaker government. Shaheen claimed that the party had submitted over 100 applications seeking permission for holding public gatherings and rallies, but none were approved.
Shaheen had also questioned the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) ability to take notice of the injustices being meted out to the PTI.
The PTI lawyer had also raised doubts about the upcoming elections, given the oppressive environment for his party. He suggested that the country's issues might not be adequately resolved through such controversial elections.
