LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday declared null and void the detention of 114 teachers across the province, ordering their release on immediate basis.

Justice Shakeel Ahmad heard the case and Advocate Malik Aziz Awan gave arguments during the hearing. The judge after hearing the arguments ordered to release teachers.

On Thursday, the court, hearing petitions against the detentions, had ordered the jail superintendent to produce five teachers in the court.

Dozens of teachers were taken into custody after they protested against leave encashment issue and "privatisation" of public sector schools.

In reaction to detentions, teachers have also threatened to boycott examination duties, saying they will abstain from duty during the intermediate exams starting from October 20.

They have also announced to boycott paper setting excercise and practical examination duty later.
