IG said that further development in the case will be surfaced soon.

KOHAT (Dunya News) – Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Salahuddin Mehsud on Wednesday told that two persons involved in murder of Kohat medical student Asma Rani have been arrested.

In his media briefing, IG KP said that every effort was made to down police officers’ morale but they detained the suspects. He said further development in the case will be surfaced soon.

On the other hand, Asma Rani’s sister Safia requested the federation and provincial government to work together for the arrest of prime suspect Mujahidullah Afridi, who flew abroad.

Afridi, nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) district president Aftab Alam, reportedly shot dead Asma after his marriage proposal was turned down.

Asma had received three bullets and was rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. She had come home to meet her family in Kohat during session break.

Late Asma recorded a statement at the hospital with the police in which she identified Mujahidullah Afridi as the man who fired at her.

Taking notice of the incident, Supreme Court (SC) had ordered the Aftab Alam to bring back his nephew Mujahid Afridi.

Alam was told that he should bring his nephew back to the country himself to retain his respect or else the authorities can force him back by using the help of Interpol. CJP assured Alam that they will provide protective bail.
