Chief Justice warned Aftab Alam against pressurising authorities to save his nephew

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday ordered the PTI Kohat president to bring back his nephew who flew abroad after suspected of murder in Asma Rani case.

While hearing the case, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar told Aftab Alam to bring back his nephew Mujahid Afridi. “If you try to influence in any way on the investigation then we will not spare you,” he said.

Alam was told that he should bring his nephew back to the country himself to retain his respect or else the authorities can force him back by using the help of Interpol. CJP assured Alam that they will provide protective bail.

In reaction, Alam responded that he will use his influence to bring back Afridi.

KP IG also appeared before the court and said he guarantees transparent investigation. “There is no political pressure,” he claimed.

FIA DG said they have requested for the red warrants.

Despite the summon, PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry did not appear before the top court. His brother Faisal Chaudhry pleaded to omit the party’s name from the case which the CJP rejected.

“We have not given any observation about PTI,” the court said.

SC had earlier on Tuesday summoned Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhary, Kohat district president Aftab Alam and home secretary in Asma Rani murder case. CJP had remarked that all the men should appear before the court today even if the time goes to 8pm.

SC will hear the case next after one week.
