Summary Indus Water Treaty a great example of cooperation between India, Pakistan for 40 years, says US
WASHINGTON: (Daily Dunya) – United States has on Wednesday said that the invitation to India for joining China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) a mutual issue between China and India. Terming Indus Water Treaty as a perfect example of cooperation, the US said that Pakistan and India could surely resolve their matters with dialogue, reported Daily Dunya.
During the routine briefing on Wednesday, US foreign office spokesperson John Kirby said that the US welcomed the dialogue between China, Pakistan and Russia for peace in Afghanistan.
Kirby said that Indus Water Treaty was a golden example of cooperation between India and Pakistan for the last fifty years and the differences arising between the two countries regarding this treaty should be sorted out with mutual dialogue. He said that the US was completely aware of the tensions between India and Pakistan and wanted the tension to end.
US Foreign Secretary has also phoned Pakistani Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in this regard and the US ambassador in Islamabad had also met Dar. Kirby said that the US was constantly in contact with Pakistan and India on various issues.
Talking about CPEC, John Kirby said that the invitation to India to join was a mutual issue between India and China and the US couldn’t opine on it.
