Summary MQM's Faisal Rafique was successful from PS-115 constituency of Sindh Assembly.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Friday emerged victorious in NA-245 and PS-115 by-elections, according to unofficial and inconclusive results. MQM managed to secure both seats of the National Assembly and Sindh Assembly. Meanwhile voter turnout in PS-115 constituency remained extremely low with only 14,739 citizens casting their votes out of a registered 1,62000 voters.
According to the details, MQM’s Faisal Rafique was successful in Sindh Assembly’s constituency of PS-115, attaining 11,747 votes. Syed Chawla of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) came in second with 1368 votes. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate attained 1100 votes while MQM Haqiqi managed to secure 700 votes.
MQM also achieved an easy win in National Assembly’s constituency of NA-245. MQM’s Kamal Malik has been appointed as Member of National Assembly after the triumph while PPP’s Shahid Hussain came in second.
Meanwhile PTI’s nominee Amjad Ullah Khan withdrew from the election a few hours before the polling was about to begin and announced joining MQM during a late night press conference.
Voter turnout in this constituency also remained very low. National Assembly’s seat of this constituency, having 490655 votes, became vacant after MQM’s Rehan Hashmi’s resignation.
