4-country session for Afghan peace process to be held in Islamabad on Jan 11

Summary Session to be held on Jan 11 in Islamabad to decide mechanism regarding Afghan govt-Taliban talks

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Four-country session is going to be held in Islamabad on January 11 in order to decide a mechanism for talks between Afghan government and Taliban.

The development has come in as regional countries lay strong emphasis on restoration of peace in Afghanistan in order to curb insurgency in other parts. The four countries that will convene a session include Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and the United States of America (USA).

According to the Foreign Office (FO) sources, representatives of Pakistan, Afghanistan, USA and China will attend the session. Pakistan will be represented by Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry while Afghanistan will be represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Hikmet Karzai.

The meeting will be attended by special representatives of USA and China for Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The session will decide a mechanism for the schedule and procedure for the talks between Taliban and Afghan government.
