Local government elections have delayed in Punjab due to unknown reasons.

However, recommendations for new local bodies have been finalised.The provincial government has set recommendations for the code of Local Government Systems 1989 and 2002.According to sources, rural areas would be separated from urban areas. Different local government systems have been recommended in accordance with requirements. Restoration of town councils also has been recommended.Chairmen District Council and in rural areas and mayors in cities would also be reinstated.
