Openers Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan began aggressively, putting early pressure on India’s bowlers. However, Pakistan lost their first wicket at 21 when Fakhar was caught behind for 15 off nine deliveries. The second blow came at 93 when Saim Ayub departed for 21, followed soon after by Hussain Talat, who managed just 10 runs.
The biggest setback arrived at 115, when Sahibzada Farhan, after a superb innings of 58, was caught to end Pakistan’s momentum. Despite the efforts, Pakistan’s middle order failed to capitalise, and the team concluded their innings at 171.
After the toss, captain Salman Ali Agha admitted Pakistan would also have preferred to bowl first. He described the game as a new challenge, stressing the team’s focus on playing quality cricket. He confirmed two changes in the playing XI, with Faheem Ashraf and Hussain Talat coming in for Hasan Nawaz and Khushdil Shah.
