General Raheel Sharif held a meeting with PM Nawaz in Islamabad.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News / Agencies) - Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Friday held a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad and discussed country’s security situation.

The two leaders exchanged views on the security of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

General Raheel Sharif assured that full security will be provided to the CPEC and other similar projects.

The CPEC involves energy and infrastructure projects linking the neighbors  economies and creating an "economic corridor" between Pakistan s Gwadar port and China s western Xinjiang region.

The insurgency has raised doubts about the corridor, a network of roads, railways and pipelines, however, the Pak Army said it was tackling the security risks by setting up a special division for the corridor, including nine army battalions and paramilitary forces.
