Pakistan, Iran to boost trade to five billion dollars

Alaeddin said the purpose of his visit is to strengthen the relationship of Pakistan and Iran.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chairman for the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of Iran Alaeddin Boroujerdi said in a press conference in Islamabad that the trade between Pakistan and Iran is worth one billion dollars at the moment which is not acceptable, we should boost it to five billion dollars.

He said that the purpose of his visit is to further strengthen the relationship of Pakistan and Iran. Both the countries have stood by each other during the crisis times like wars, he added.

Alaeddin declared Chabahar and Gwadar as ‘sister ports’ which can play a vital role in expanding the trade with eastern countries of Asia.

Talking about the Pak-Iran gas pipeline, he said that Iran has erected the pipeline to its border, hopefully Pakistan will also complete the task soon at its side as the project is in the interest of both countries.

Boroujerdi emphasized that China, Pakistan, Russia and Iran should further strengthen their relationships. He also said that Iran welcomes the proposal given by the senate of Pakistan to form an alliance between these countries.

Boroujerdi added that Iran is ready to play a constructive role between Pakistan and India in order to get the Kashmir dispute resolved if both Pakistan and India are willing to accept Iran’s role.

Alaeddin also said that intelligence agencies of Iran are in contact with Pakistan regarding India’s spy Kulbhushan Yadav that was caught from Balochistan.

He expressed his views that Pakistan and Iran should work in collaboration to eradicate terrorism from Afghanistan.
