KP Finance Minister given clean-chit, MD Khyber Bank still not removed from his post

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seems to have abandoned its ally Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in regards to the Khyber Bank scandal as the team investigating into the matter has given clean-chit to Provincial Finance Minister Muzaffar Said but has yet not removed Managing Director (MD) of the very bank from his post, reported Dunya News on Saturday.

KP Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Khattak announced that the repot regarding the investigation shall be presented in the Assembly on May 9 but the session was suspended till an indefinite period.

Jamaat-e-Islami seemed to be unhappy with the decision of its ally political party and, in this regards, an emergency meeting of the party was called. It was decided that a meeting shall be held with KP CM. Opposition parties rejected the provincial government’s recommendation of presenting the report of the investigation in the Assembly and demanded that investigation of Khyber Bank be conducted by the Chief Justice (CJ).

The scandal has not just given rise to rifts between the allied parties of KP’s government but the matter became even more complex with the involvement of the province’s bureaucracy.
