TOKYO (Reuters) – Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said on Wednesday the government will aim to compile a supplementary budget after the lower house election expected to be held later this month.

Ishiba made the comment in a debate with opposition party leaders. He is slated to dissolve parliament later on Wednesday and call a snap election on Oct. 27.

The supplementary budget is likely to be spent on disaster relief for areas hit by a big earthquake in January, and for measures to cushion the blow to households from rising living costs.
