(Web Desk) – Starting in 1924, the Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was held in New York on Thursday. The parade that has been an annual thanksgiving event for nine decades now, drew an estimated 3 million spectators and 50 million television viewers.

The 2017 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade that started from Central Park West concluding with Santa’s appearance to kick off the holiday shopping season was to celebrate the expansion of the Macy’s store in Manhattan.

While Macy’s does not release the exact amount spent at the Thanksgiving Day Parade each year, estimates put the average total cost for the event between $11.6 and $13.4 million.
