(Web Desk) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on official trip to Germany where he asked the authorities within to help improve the game of football in India.

He reportedly pitched the idea in front of European powerhouse on Tuesday and made the request ahead of India hosting FIFA U-17 World Cup in October, this year. Although India has launched commercial football leagues, the nature of talent produced by the country seems far from the international standards. The year 2017 is important for India and in view of the upcoming under-17 FIFA World Cup, Modi asked for Germany’s help. 

He told media that India was working together with Germany to improve football in India. The European country won the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, three years ago. Also, some of the talent-rich clubs of international league football are based in Germany.

Indian Super League is held every year in the country to promote the game of football, where foreign and local talent try to put together exciting matches. However, the football clubs therein cannot compete the renowned German football clubs like Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. India currently stands at 102 position in FIFA football rankings.

Moreover, Modi also met Bollywood actor Priyanka Chopra in Berlin. The two were in the same region and decided to pose together for a photo. Later on, the film actor and model shared the glimpse of her meeting on micro-blogging site Twitter.
