Japanese idol spent $100,000 on cosmetic surgeries

(Web Desk) - Over the last decade, Todoroki, a 30-year-old Japanese woman known as Japan’s plastic surgery idol, has spent over 13 million yen on plastic surgery.

Todoroki, who posts on YouTube as (Plastic Surgery Idol Todoroki-chan), is one of the few vloggers who not only focuses on a topic that is still considered taboo in her home country but also shows the dark side of undergoing surgery. She has had dozens of plastic surgery procedures since the age of 18 and has always been open about the outcomes. Todoroki, for example, does not hide the fact that one procedure left her with a numb upper lip, despite her claim that she has no regrets about her plastic surgery journey thus far.

Todoroki-chan first considered plastic surgery in junior high school, when her classmates began teasing her about her appearance, calling her ugly and laughing at her. She initially thought it was because she was shy and had otaku interests, but a field trip revealed that she also saw herself as uglier than her peers.

Todoroki was shocked and thought to herself, “I’m so ugly compared to other people,” after taking some photos with colleagues and seeing herself in them. The 30-year-old says that while most people turn to plastic surgery to make themselves attractive, she did it to “make herself seem normal” and to finally “like herself”.

After convincing her parents to sign a consent letter, the young plastic surgery idol underwent her first plastic surgery procedure at the age of 18. She desired double eyelid surgery, and while her family was initially opposed, they eventually realised that it was what she desired. She went ahead with it and has since had dozens of other procedures. She claims she spent more than 13.5 million yen ($98,000) on cosmetic surgery.

Todoroki-chan is one of Japan’s most popular plastic surgery influencers, with 406,000 subscribers on YouTube. Despite the fact that plastic surgery is still widely frowned upon in her country, the 30-year-old believes that ‘casual plastic surgery culture’ will one day take root in Japan, just as it has in South Korea.

“For me, plastic surgery was a “remedy” to accept myself; I gained confidence that I was getting closer to normal,” Todoroki-chan told Oricon Magazine. “However, not everything goes as planned with plastic surgery. I’ve had failures, and I believe that openly discussing plastic surgery is critical.”

Todoroki-chan discusses her plastic surgery transformation as well as the pain and recovery time she had to endure to achieve these results on her YouTube channel. Instead of simply promoting cosmetic procedures, she is always open about the negative aspects of plastic surgery and tries to help people make the best decisions about their appearance.
