It is all up to the car engineers and designers to decided on which side they will place gas tanks

(Web Desk) – All cars don’t have the gas tanks on the same side. The placement of gas tank varies from car manufacturer to country, and it is not possible to have gas tanks in all cars on the same side, either left or right.

The position of fuel task is one of the biggest mysteries in car manufacturing. While some cars have fuel door on the left, others have it on the right side which brings us to the question why isn’t there a standard placement for the fuel tank.

Reader’s Digest reported that car engineers and designers decide where to place the fuel task. The engineers see packaging as their priority while selecting fuel door. It added that the duel fuel tank is unlikely in future because of minimum demand as well as room.

It was argued that fuel task side depends on car design and underbody packaging. As the main components of the engine are underneath the car, the engineers see their convenience because they don’t want to prolong the route the filler tube.

Ford spokesman told that it also varies from country to country. For instance, Americans prefer their fuel door to be on the left side. The countries like Pakistan, India, the United Kingdom and Australia drive on the left side of the road so their gas tanks are placed on right hand side.

For those who forget the side of fuel doors on their car can look at the fuel gauge on dashboard as it points in the direction of gas tank.
