Bogus clubs, tortured record used for PFF elections: Haroon Malik

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Chairman Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Normalization Committee (NC) Haroon Malik said on Thursday bogus clubs and tortured record were being used for the PFF elections in the country.

While briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), he said Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) had entrusted the PFF with the responsibility of conducting the PFF elections in Jan 2021 adding more than four thousand football clubs had applied for registration through the ‘Pakistan Football Connect’ program. Last year, the number was 2162, he said.

Federal secretary IPC apprised the Chairman of the standing committee MNA Nawab Sher of the Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ehsaan-ur-Rehman Mazari’s directions of conducting the PFF elections as ealry as possible. The IPC secretary told the NC had assured of conducting the elections in March 2023.

Mr Haroon further said Pakistan women football team would fly to Saudi Arabia for a tetra-nation football tournament and Pakistan men football team would play in a tri-nation football tournament in March adding the teams would participate in Paris Olympics qualifying round.
