Zulqarnain might return to Pakistan: British newspaper

After an extraordinary day of claim and counter-claim, Pakistans refugee wicketkeeper, Zulqarnain Haider, might soon be heading back to his home country. He will be presented in front of British Foreign Ministry today regarding his political asylum; where as his hearings of Scotland Yard and ICCs anti corruption unit have been postponed until 10th December 2010.Zulqarnain met officials from the UK Border Agency this morning for a preliminary meeting about his application. I had my first interview today over the asylum request I have made with UK authorities, he said. They asked me routine questions during the interview. The next date for my interview is 10 December. Today's interview was the first part of a process where my application would be considered, he added. Zulqarnain claims that he was so concerned about the threat from the alleged bookmaker that he felt he needed to leave Dubai at once. According to latest information, Scotland Yard and ICCs anti corruption unit has completed the second phase of investigation with Zulqarnain Haider, while further investigations will continue on 10th December 2010. The newspaper also claimed that despite of asylum, player can return to his country. Ramiz Raja, the Pakistani commentator who used to run the PCB, gave a clear picture of the boards perspective on Tuesday and said the advice from headquarters is that he has played his last game for Pakistan. The PCB would not encourage him to come back and play again, because the whole thing is a total embarrassment.
