CJP takes suo moto notice of Gujrat school van tragedy

The hearing of the case will begin on Tuesday.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday took suo motu notice of the school van burning incident in Gujrat which claimed 17 lives. 

 

On May 25, at least sixteen children and a teacher were burned to death when the school van caught fire due to faulty fuel system in Mangowal area of Gujrat. The children in the incident were aged between 6 and 12.

 

Taking notice of the incident, the apex court has sought reports from Secretary Petroleum, Chief Secretary of Punjab,Punjab’s Secretary of transport department, Inspector General of Punjab police, and the administration of the school related to the incident.

 

Hearing over the case will commence on June 4.
