Pakistan, Iran FMs discuss regional situation in phone call

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss bilateral relations and the evolving regional situation.

According to the Foreign Office, the two leaders exchanged views on regional developments and agreed to maintain close contact and continue consultations on matters of mutual concern.

During the conversation, Abbas Araghchi expressed concern over what he described as Israeli violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon. He also voiced serious reservations regarding reported Israeli directives related to potential military actions in parts of Beirut.

The Iranian foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in regional diplomacy and requested Islamabad to continue its diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions. He emphasized the importance of supporting initiatives to preserve the ceasefire.

Ishaq Dar underscored the significance of maintaining the ceasefire, saying that sustaining existing understandings and agreements was essential for regional stability.

He added that the continuation of the ceasefire would strengthen efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability across the region.
