In his message on X, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said reports of ceasefire violations have been received at a few places in the conflict area.
The PM said, “Ceasefire violations are harming the spirit of the peace process. I sincerely appeal to all parties to exercise restraint.
The parties should respect the ceasefire for two weeks as per the agreement, and diplomacy should be given the opportunity to play a central role in peaceful resolution to the conflict.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had appealed to Trump to push back his deadline for an Iran deal by two weeks and for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz during the same period, saying ongoing diplomatic efforts are promising and should run their course.
The United States agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran proposed by Pakistan, President Trump said Tuesday night.
The Pakistani proposal, which came hours before Trump's deadline to launch massive strikes if no deal was reached, involves a pause on Trump's threat and a commitment from Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks.
