Summary Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called Field Marshal Asim Munir to praise Pakistan’s pivotal role in securing a temporary ceasefire
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Field Marshal Asim Munir received a phone call from Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday, in which the Iranian official commended Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
According to the Iranian embassy, Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s continuous and effective role in facilitating a ceasefire and de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The call follows the intervention of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Munir, which led former U.S. President Donald Trump to extend the deadline for a major military strike on Iran by two weeks.
Iran, accepting Pakistan’s proposal, agreed to a temporary ceasefire, with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei ordering all military units to halt operations. Officials clarified that the halt is temporary and does not mark a permanent end to hostilities.
