Summary Muttaqi emphasized that Afghanistan, as a neighboring country, wants all disputes to be settled through peaceful dialogue
KABUL (Dunya News) – Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, has stated that Afghanistan is keen to resolve all issues with Pakistan through dialogue and mutual understanding.
According to a statement issued by the Afghan Foreign Ministry, Muttaqi made these remarks during a telephone conversation with the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The discussion covered bilateral relations, ongoing issues between Afghanistan and the United States, the regional situation, and recent developments in Afghanistan-Pakistan ties. Muttaqi also expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for its successful mediation in securing the release of an American prisoner and reaffirmed Afghanistan’s commitment to resolving issues through diplomatic engagement.
Commenting on the broader regional situation, the Afghan foreign minister criticized the reported conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran, warning that such developments pose a serious threat to regional stability. He described the escalation of war in the region as alarming and condemnable, while praising the UAE’s patience and diplomatic approach.
Regarding ties with Pakistan, Muttaqi emphasized that Afghanistan, as a neighboring country, wants all disputes to be settled through peaceful dialogue. He also assured that Afghan territory would not be allowed to be used against Pakistan and noted that serious steps have already been taken in this regard.
Meanwhile, the UAE foreign minister reiterated that rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan are not in the interest of either country and assured that the UAE would continue efforts to help ease tensions.
Recent clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan erupted on the night of February 26, when Afghan Taliban forces targeted Pakistani border check posts. In response, Pakistan launched retaliatory actions under the operation “Ghazab Lil-Haq.”
Pakistan has consistently maintained that the Afghan Taliban government provides safe havens to militant groups, particularly the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which carry out cross-border attacks on Pakistani security forces. Islamabad has also alleged links between these groups and India, contributing to ongoing tensions between the two neighboring countries.
