PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to formally include Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the curriculum of schools from grade six to grade twelve.
However, the project faces serious challenges due to a shortage of experienced teachers and basic facilities.

Documents indicate that 5,525 IT labs are currently lacking across the province to teach AI-225 labs are needed in higher secondary schools and 3,515 in middle schools, which are not yet available.

According to the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, the current computer science curriculum in schools does not include any AI-related content, making significant curriculum revisions necessary.

Between 35 to 50 percent of AI content will be integrated across different grades.

To effectively teach the AI subject, the education department has also decided to recruit 7,555 IT teachers so that the new technology can be efficiently transferred to students.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department stated that AI will officially become part of the curriculum from March 2026.
