Bhati gate tragedy case sees major progress as accused produced in court

Progress made in Bhati Gate mother-daughter death case as accused were produced in court; verdict on physical remand reserved while defense cites diyat payment to victims family.

LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) -  A major development has emerged in the case of a mother and daughter who lost their lives after falling into a drain in Bhati Gate, as the accused were produced before the court.

The court reserved its verdict on the prosecution’s request for physical remand of the accused.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Shafqat Abbas Maghiana presided over the hearing of the case.

Those presented before the court included Project Manager Asghar Ali, Safety Incharge Muhammad Hanzala,

Site Incharge Ahmed Nawaz, company director Salman Yaseen and Usman Yaseen.

During the hearing, the defense counsel informed the court that one crore rupees had been paid to the affected family, stating that under Section 322 the case pertains only to payment of diyat.

Three arrested in Bhati Gate sewer tragedy case

The Senior Judicial Magistrate remarked that Section 316 has also been added to the case.

The defense further stated that the accused are ready to fully cooperate with the victim’s family and the court.

A case against the accused has been registered at Bhati Gate police station.
