KARACHI (Dunya News) - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Sunday criticised the budget 2024-25, stating that it targetted the salaried class while feudals have once again been let off.

Addressing a press conference here, he highlighted that feudal lords have been sucking the country's blood for the past 75 years.

He pointed out that inflation was rampant across the country, lamenting Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's statement that inflation has shrunk from 38% to 12%, questioning where the relief was.

He insisted that the private sector has not been given any relief, resulting in millions of people leaving the country.

He also questioned the state of government hospitals and criticised the lack of new projects in Sindh's development budget, calling for more developmental projects for Karachi.

JI emir expressed dismay that the current budget was IMF-dictated document and questioned the effectiveness of imposing taxes to reduce inflation, saying “where does imposing high taxes reduce inflation in the world?

He criticised Shehbaz Sharif’s claims of that this IMF programme was the last and said the people no longer trust his words.
