How CM Elahi won trust vote in Punjab Assembly?

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Parvez Elahi won the trust of Punjab Assembly (PA) amid ruckus. However, there’s an inside story as to how the ruling coalition tricked the opposition inside and outside the assembly before securing the trust vote.

Sources told that the PTI-PML-Q alliance showed less vote count in the PA s Ayes lobby to trick the opposition into believing that the ruling coalition did not have the required majority. On the other hand, the absence of some PTI members in the house had, till the deciding hours, added fuel to the fire. But, the actual game had been played well before that.

First of all, PTI leader Mian Aslam Iqbal convinced MPA Bilal Warraich to put his weight into the ruling coalition’s side. Other than that, the absence of PTI MPAs from Chakwal and Bahawalpur in the house further raised the hopes for the opposition alliance that manifested in the form of the opposition’s challenge to PA Speaker to count the votes. However, the hopes started dwindling when the government’s count surpassed 180 and the opposition backed off from its challenge to the speaker.
