Punjab assembly likely to be dissolved tonight
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan has completed consultation with the party leadership and the Punjab Assembly is likely to be dissolved tonight (Thursday).
Sources privy to the development said the PTI leadership has rejected the suggestion to delay dissolution of the provincial assembly till February and instead the assembly could be dissolved tonight.

In this regard, Imran Khan has summoned Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi for consultation.
Sources further said that if Chief Minister Parvez Elahi was convinced in the meeting, the advice to dissolve the assembly could be sent to the governor.
Imran to have last word on assembly dissolution
Earlier, Punjab Assembly Speaker Sibtain Khan said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan would take the final decision regarding the dissolution of Punjab Assembly.
In reference to the Punjab chief minister, Sibtain Khan stated, "Chaudhry Parvez Elahi entrusted all the authority to PTI Chairman Imran Khan”. The PA speaker expressed his thoughts on the vote of confidence, saying, "I had vowed not to take the vote of confidence on Jan 11. Voting took place on Jan 12, not Jan 11, as I promised”.
Lashing out at the political opponents, the PA speaker said, “The opposition was causing uproar about 186 members for three days. When we had reached 186, they asked to stop the process of voting."
The consultative meeting to discuss the political situation in the province was presided over by Punjab Chief Minister Parvez Elahi who was joined by Speaker Sibtain Khan, Raja Basharat and MNA Chaudhry Hussain Elahi.
During the meeting, the overall situation in the province was taken into the account. Those who expressed trust in CM Elahi were praised at the consultative meeting.
Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, the Punjab chief minister was of the view that the governor haf favored the opinion of the PTI and PML-Q by withdrawing a denotification order.
CM Elahi slammed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, saying he [Rana] was diverting the attention of the masses by misinterpreting the court’s ruling.
The Punjab chief minister also expressed his gratitude to Allah Almighty for successful strategy in vote of confidence.
Lambasting the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), CM Elahi said, "The negative politics of the PML-N have been rejected in Punjab."
Meanwhile, Punjab Minister Raja Basharat said the governor withdrew a denotification order by accepting the legal importance of the vote of confidence.
