Prohibited funding case: Court grants FIA two-day physical remand of Hamid Zaman
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The District court of Lahore on Saturday granted the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) two-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and founding member Hamid Zaman in the prohibited funding case.
The PTI founding member was presented before the Judicial Magistrate Ghulam Murtaza Virk by the FIA today after he was taken into custody by the agency from his office located on Waris Road in Lahore on Friday for his alleged involvement in the PTI prohibited funding case.
The agency said that it is investigating Zaman for his involvement in the foreign funding case. The PTI received funds from foreign sources in its bank accounts.
During the hearing, Khawaja Haris appeared on behalf of the accused Hamid Zaman and argued that "The allegations made in the FIR are completely baseless, adding that FIA itself is admitting, and the question paper was given which had to be answered, if they are cooperating with the investigation, so there is no need for arrest."
After the arguments were completed, the court reserved its verdict on the request for physical remand and later handed over Hamid Zaman to the FIA on a two-day physical remand.
