Unofficial results pour in as vote count underway for Balochistan local body polls
QUETTA (Dunya News) - After 9 years, local body elections were held in Balochistan in which polling time for the election of local representatives has expired and unofficals results are coming out of 651 Municipal Committees, results of 228 wards have been received according to which independent candidates are leading with 120 seats, JUI is at the second position with 33 seats, BAP 21, BNP 10, and PPP has 8 seats, while clashes also broke out in Turbat, Chaman and Dera Bugti, Dunya News reported on Sunday.

According to unofficial results of Municipal Committee Ward No. 1, Aurangzeb of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party won with 243 votes, while Awami National Party candidate Naqib Afghan came second with 170 votes.
Pir Koh
According to the unofficial results of UC-13, Ward No. 5 Ibtari, Muhammad Amin of Jamhuri Watan Party won with 41 votes.
Pishin
According to the unofficial results of UC 38, Ward No. 3, independent candidate Muhammad won with 6 votes, PK Map’s BB Zara got 3 votes, and Ward No. 3 got 9 out of 13 registered votes.

According to unofficial results, the Balochistan National Party candidate from Ward No. 3 Qaziabad won with 500 votes, while Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam candidate Shoaib Badini came second with 130 votes.

Independent candidate Hayatullah won with 287 votes, while independent candidate Naqibullah Nasir came second with 85 votes.

According to the unofficial results of Ward No. 4, independent candidate Khanzada Zarkoon won with 154 votes, while Ataullah of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam came second with 50 votes.

According to the unofficial results of UC-43 s Ward 1 Johdansar, BNP s Shabir Ahmed won with 533 votes, while the independent candidate came second with 199 votes.

According to unofficial results of Union Council 7 Ward 1, Maulana Abdul Rauf of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam won with 364 votes, independent candidate Muhammad Idrees Bangalzai got 260 votes and he came second.

According to the unofficial results of Municipal Committee Ward No. 3 Azizabad, KBAP candidate Munir Ahmed won with 196 votes, while independent candidate Abdul Qadir Bangalzai got 172 votes.

According to the unofficial results of UC12 Ward 4, Hayat Khan Jamaldini of JUI won with 297 votes.
Earlier, Polling for the local body elections started at 8 am and continued till 5 pm without any break and the election schedule in the remaining two districts of Quetta and Lasbela will be announced later as the provincial government has increased the number of constituencies while constituencies are being demarcated there.
According to the ECP, there are 5,226 polling stations in 32 districts out of which 2,054 polling stations were declared as highly sensitive and 1,974 as sensitive. and there are 16,195 candidates in the election out of which 102 candidates have been elected unopposed while Police, Levies and FC personnel are deployed at the polling stations.
Polling was also held in Surab including Sibi, Dera Bugti, Pishin, Barkhan, Chaghi, Kalat and Zhob. According to DC Sorab, the total number of voters in the area is 57,339. Strict security arrangements have been made throughout the district.
On the other hand, polling stopped at the Government Girls High School Bhag polling station in Bolan in the protest of a PPP candidate against the registration of fake votes. However, the polling process was resumed shortly after.
Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja has warned of strict action in case of violations during the polling process.
The CEC said that the ECP would not tolerate any interference during the polling process and urged the masses to use their right to vote without any fear.
“People should come out of their house and vote for their representatives,” Sikandar Sultan Raja said and further warned that legal action would be taken against anyone barring women from polling.
1 killed, 16 injured during Balochistan local body polls
One person was killed and 16 were injured in firing and fighting in different parts of the province during Balochistan local body polls, while three rockets were fired in Dera Bugti and two officials were also injured in a grenade attack on a polling station in Kalat, Dunya News reported on Sunday.
According to Levies sources, unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade and fled, adding that one person was injured in a minor altercation between two groups at UC-1 Ward No. 7 Padag in Noshki and tee rockets were fired from an unknown direction at a polling station in Dera Bugti area of Basa, Balochistan, which landed near the Levies check post at the polling station, however no casualties were reported.
In Dera Bugti District Kohlu Union Council 6 Ward No. 2 Misri Khan Makori 8 people were injured during the fight, while in Kohlu Municipal Committee Ward No. 1 Family Polling Station 4 people were injured in a scuffle, Loralai area Kali Zangiwal polling One person was injured in a scuffle between activists of political parties at the station.
