The Sindh CM directed the IG Sindh to take stern action against street criminals

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh government on Thursday decided to beef up security in across the province in view of the growing tensions in Afghanistan.

According to sources, the decision was taken in an Apex Committee meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. The Chief Minister also demanded the federal government to resolve the problem of illegal immigrants.

Corps Commander Karachi, Provincial ministers, DG Rangers and other officials attended the meeting. The Sindh CM directed the IG Sindh to take stern action against street criminals and said that it must be brought under control in any case.

The meeting was informed that 25 accused were killed in 189 police encounters against street criminals in Karachi, while a judge will be appointed in the High Court for a separate trial of street crime.

CM Murad Ali Shah said that action should also be taken against those involved in purchasing stolen mobile phones. The meeting also decided to take action against unregistered or AFR vehicles. Murad Ali Shah said that armed guards were seen sitting on unregistered vehicles, such vehicles should be stopped.

The Apex Committee was informed that there is a plan to install 10,000 CCTV surveillance systems in the city under the Safe City project. A total of Rs 6.9 billion have been allocated this year for the Rs 38 billion project.

The chief minister has appointed a committee to review the cost of the project which will submit its report in six weeks.
