The joint opposition also agreed to form a committee to bring in a no-confidence motion

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Day after the Lower House of the parliament descended into chaos as treasury and opposition lawmakers almost came to blows and hurled objects at each other following loud jeers, slogans and whistles during the speech of Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif, the joint opposition on Wednesday decided to move no-confidence motion against Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser.

According to sources, the decision was taken after important consultations at a meeting of joint opposition leaders.

The opposition leaders while rejecting the NA speaker’s decision barring seven Members of National Assembly from entering the parliament over ‘grossly disorderly’ conduct demanded the formation of a parliamentary committee with equal representation of the government and the opposition.

The joint opposition also agreed to form a committee to bring in a no-confidence motion against Asad Qaiser and consultation is underway over the names of committee members.

The committee will be tasked to move no-trust motion against Speaker NA.

The opposition leaders said that yesterday was the darkest day in the history of democracy, adding that the speaker has completely failed in his constitutional, legal, democratic and parliamentary responsibilities.

The opposition leaders said that the Speaker is the guardian of every member of the House but Asad Qaiser is not qualified to perform this duty.

On Tuesday, govt and opposition lawmakers had almost come to blows during Shahbaz Sharif s speech and hurled objects at each other following loud jeers, slogans and whistles.

The government and opposition lawmakers came face-to-face as PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif took aim at the government during the general debate on federal budget 2021-22.
