COAS welcomes Biden's announcement of withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan
Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa also hoped for greater Pak-US bilateral cooperation in all domains in future.
RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday welcomed US President Joe Biden’s announcement of withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan by September 2021.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), US Charge d’ Affairs to Pakistan Mrs Angela Ageler called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest and overall regional security situation including recent developments in Afghan Peace Process were discussed in detail.
COAS welcomed President Biden’s announcement of withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan by September 2021.
He further reiterated that a prosperous, stable and peaceful Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan in particular and region in general.
Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa also hoped for greater Pak-US bilateral cooperation in all domains in future.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts for bringing peace and stability in the region, especially the Afghan Peace Process and also assured of US continued assistance for the common cause of peace in Afghanistan.
