Interior Ministry issues notification of ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Following the approval of the Federal Cabinet, the Interior Ministry has put a ban on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997. The ministry has issued a notification in this regard.
Earlier, the Federal Cabinet approved the summary from Interior Ministry seeking a ban on the Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan under the anti-terrorism law.
Prime Minister Imran Khan had already given approval to the summary following days of violence across the country in which at least two policemen lost their lives and scores were injured.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said Thursday that another summary for the dissolution of TLP will soon be submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Following the decision of the Supreme Court, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will de-notify the religious party.
