Machh tragedy: Govt undecided on PM's visit to Quetta

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A meeting of federal ministers held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan was unable to take any decision regarding the departure of PM to meet the protesters of Hazara community in Quetta, after 11 miners were brutally killed by gunmen in Machh, area of Balochistan.

According to details, a meeting of senior federal ministers was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss political and security situation in the country.

According to sources, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid briefed the meeting on the Machh tragedy. The meeting remained undecided over PM Imran Khan’s visit to Quetta however it was decided to provide financial assistant to the victims of Machh tragedy as per government rules.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Imran Khan directed the Interior Ministry to come up with a permanent solution for the safety and security of the Hazara community in future, create a special security mechanism for the protection of the Hazara community.

Imran Khan said that peace in Balochistan is a guarantee of national development.

The meeting also deliberated on the upcoming Senate elections and expressed confidence in the positive economic indicators.
