CHITRAL (Dunya News) - The religious and cultural festival of the Kalash tribe ‘Chamos’ concluded successfully marking the arrival of winter with traditional rituals, celebrations, and a message of peace and unity.
The festival was celebrated with great enthusiasm across all three Kalash valleys, Rumbur, Bumburet, and Birir, drawing a large number of local and foreign tourists.
According to the Tourism Department spokesperson, various religious ceremonies were performed during the festival, reflecting the rich cultural heritage and ancient beliefs of the Kalash community. Visitors were given a rare opportunity to observe traditional Kalash customs, music, and rituals, strengthening cultural awareness and promoting tourism in the region.
The department stated that special arrangements were made to facilitate tourists throughout the event. Tourism Police remained deployed to guide visitors, while security and traffic duties were carried out on routes leading to the Kalash valleys and at the Lowari Tunnel to ensure smooth travel and safety.
The spokesperson added that Chamos is celebrated as a symbol of happiness, peace, and the welcoming of the winter season. As part of the celebrations, fruits, vegetables, and dried fruits were shared among community members to promote love, harmony, and social bonding.
In addition, the Kalash Development Authority provided various facilities for tourists, ensuring that the festival was celebrated in a peaceful, secure, and pleasant environment.
